A practical product self-study

Prototype Better.

Explore credible alternatives, try them with enough quality to learn, select what works, and use evidence to decide what changes next.

Why test first

Building faster does not tell you what is worth building.

An AI builder can produce screens and code from a prompt. It cannot tell you whether the problem matters, whether your solution will help, or which assumptions are wrong. Protopilot moves those questions before development.

How Protopilot works

Plan the test before you plan the product.

Protopilot turns an idea into a focused product project. Define the user problem, choose the assumptions that matter most, and create a small prototype to test them. Screened testers use it, and their feedback tells you what to build next.

  1. 01 Problem space Understand the user

Describe the problem before the feature.

Say who has the problem, when it happens, and what it costs them. This gives the project a clear reason to exist.

Output / user, context, problem statement
  2. 02 Hypothesis space Decide what to learn

    Turn guesses into testable assumptions.

Write down what must be true for the idea to work. Choose the answer or behavior that would support—or disprove—each assumption.

Output / assumptions and success criteria
  3. 03 Solution space Build the test

Create the smallest prototype that can answer the question.

Build only the screens and flow testers need. This is not the first release; it is a tool for learning what the release should become.

Test with the right people

See what testers say—and what they actually do.

Screening questions make sure feedback comes from people who match the target user. Their answers and actions are tied to the assumptions they test, so every result tells you what to build, revise, or remove.

“Would a structured way to surface assumptions before building an app be useful to your team?”
If the tester says yes
